Frequently Asked Questions
How is overtime pay calculated?
Overtime pay = overtime hours × hourly rate × multiplier. You can customize the hourly wage, overtime threshold (daily or weekly), and multiplier (default 1.5×) in the settings panel.
What time formats are supported?
Both 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour formats are supported. Switch between them using the toggle button at the top of the calculator or the "Use 24-hour clock" option in settings.
Is my timesheet data uploaded to a server?
No. All calculations happen locally in your browser. Data is saved in your device's localStorage and never uploaded to any server. Your information stays completely private.
How do I export my timesheet?
After filling in your timesheet, click "Export Excel" in the settings panel to download an .xls file with employee name, date range, daily details, and summary totals. Opens directly in Excel or WPS.
How many days does the timesheet support?
The timesheet shows 7 days (one week) by default. Use the date picker or Prev/Next Week buttons to navigate any week. Data is auto-saved locally — switching weeks won't lose your history.
Can I use this on mobile?
Yes. ClockCalc is fully responsive for phones and tablets. The timesheet table supports horizontal scrolling with the date column pinned to the left for easy reference.
How does the lunch break deduction work?
Enter a break start and break end time for each row — the calculator automatically subtracts that duration from the day's total work hours. For example, a 12:00–13:00 lunch break deducts exactly 1 hour. You can also enable a fixed-minute deduction in Settings under "Deduct Break Time".
Can I use this as a biweekly or monthly timesheet?
Yes. Use the Prev Week / Next Week buttons to navigate any week — each week's data is saved separately in your browser. For biweekly payroll, simply check two consecutive weeks. Excel exports include the date range in the filename so you can keep them organized.
What is the US federal overtime rate?
Under the US Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees must receive at least 1.5× their regular hourly rate for all hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek. California additionally requires 1.5× for hours over 8 per day and 2× for hours over 12 per day.
Can I set different overtime rates for weekends and holidays?
The weekly timesheet automatically highlights weekend rows. For different rates (e.g. 2× on weekends, 3× on holidays), enter those hours separately and apply the appropriate multiplier in Settings. You can export each week to Excel and apply custom rates in the summary.
Can I use this as a free biweekly timesheet calculator with lunch break?
Yes. Fill in clock-in, clock-out, and break times for each day — the calculator deducts lunch and computes net hours automatically. For biweekly payroll, use it for two consecutive weeks and export each to Excel. The filename includes the date range so files stay organized.
Does this free timesheet calculator work for Australia?
Yes. ClockCalc supports fully customizable overtime thresholds and rates, making it suitable for any country. For Australia (Modern Award standard): set the weekly threshold to 38 hours, with 1.5× for the first 3 overtime hours and 2× beyond that. Lunch break deduction and Excel export are included.
Can IHSS workers use this as a free timesheet calculator?
Yes. IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) workers in California are required to submit biweekly timesheets. Use ClockCalc to record daily clock-in and clock-out times, then export to Excel every two weeks for your records. The export includes daily hours and totals to help you complete your IHSS timesheet accurately.
What Is a Timesheet Calculator?
A timesheet calculator is a free online tool that automatically computes work hours and overtime pay from clock-in and clock-out times. Instead of manually adding up hours, enter your daily start time, end time, and break duration — ClockCalc handles the math instantly, including overtime pay based on your hourly rate and threshold.
How to Calculate Overtime Pay
Overtime pay = Overtime Hours × Hourly Rate × Multiplier. In the US, overtime is hours beyond 40/week at 1.5×. In China, weekday OT is 1.5×, weekend is 2×, and public holidays are 3×. Hourly rate = Monthly Salary ÷ 21.75 ÷ 8. ClockCalc supports custom thresholds and rates for any region.
ClockCalc is a free timesheet calculator with lunch break support built in. Enter break start and end times for each day — the calculator automatically deducts the duration from your total work hours. Whether you take a fixed 30-minute lunch or a flexible break, net hours are computed accurately so you never get underpaid. A fixed-minute deduction option is also available in Settings for employees with consistent schedules.
ClockCalc displays one full work week at a time and lets you navigate to any previous or future week with a single click. Each week's data is saved separately in your browser — nothing is lost when you switch weeks. For biweekly payroll, simply review two consecutive weeks and export each to Excel. For monthly summaries, export four weekly sheets. Free, no account required, and fully private.
